Aims
To Provide care and support to the HIV AIDS affected people
Objectives
To increase access and availability of quality and holistic Home Based care services to 550 persons infected and 350 families affected by HIV/AIDS in the Jaggampeta mandal.

Provide supportive care through the provision of nutrition, primary medical care facilities and education to the affected and infected children.

To build capacities of PLHA to increase income in households through supporting  and self help groups and sustainable income-generating activities.

To build awareness on HIV/AIDS in the entire project area of Jaggampeta mandal to prevent further infection through supporting mutual support groups.

To actively develop linkages with government and non-government sector to achieve sustainability
Goal To support the Home/Community based HIV/AIDS prevention and care initiative to minimize the impact of HIV/AIDS in PLHA adults, children and their families through mutual support groups in Jaggampeta and Gandepalli Mandals of East Godavari District of AP
Strategies






























To improve knowledge on HIV/AIDS prevention and care to the key information resources and caregivers at home.

To bring about awareness among the community in proposed mandal to minimize the stigma and discrimination with the help of our mutual support groups and community.

To bring about psychosocial change by counseling 350 families living with HIV/AIDS of proposed mandal on HIV/AIDS and care to be taken.

To improve the Health conditions of 550 people living with HIV/AIDS in proposed mandal by the end of July 2006.

To build capacities of PLHA to increase income in 100 ? households through supporting self help groups and sustainable income-generating activities.


The project will develop linkages with both government and non-government sector in all possible areas that will make the project a sustainable one. If the government or other sectors also initiates any of the activity undertaken by the project, the organization will utilize those services and stop utilizing CRS funds for the same activity.
Activities






























































St. Paul’s trust has been implementing Care and Support program in Jaggampeta and Gandepalli covering 800 HIV/AIDS families through community participation approach with the financial support of Catholic Relief Services.

Outreach team will provide specific information and education on STD/HIV/AIDS prevention and care to key information resources and caretakers at home.

Organizing awareness programs with the assistance of volunteers

More volunteers identified from the Mandal level

The project team will provide adequate information and education on HIV/AIDS to the families living with HIV/AIDS

Provide supportive care through the provision of nutrition, primary medical care facilities and education to the affected and infected children.

Formation and strengthen of Children support groups.

The project will facilitate pre and post test counseling to the PLHA

The project will refer the suspected cases to the nearest VCTC

The Project medical officer will diagnose the case and prescribes the treatment.

Medicines will be issued to the PLHA based on the diagnosis.

Suspected cases will be referred to the nearest service institutions for testing.

Formation of new mutual support groups with the PLHA and strengthening.

Build capacities of infected and affected persons to undertake income-generating activities.

Identification of the HIV/AIDS infected as well as affected people who are willing to sustain through mutual support groups.

Linkages developed with Government & Non-Government institutions.

Supporting the individuals financially to start petty business or some other small programs.

HIV infected and affected adults, HIV infected and affected children including orphans and semi orphans, affected aged persons, and HIV infected and affected sex workers

St. Paul’s trust has been implementing Care and Support program in Jaggampeta and Gandepalli covering 800 HIV/AIDS families through community participation approach with the financial support of Catholic Relief Services.
CORDAID, Netherlands helped us in the 2006-2007 for taking up Care and Support in one mandal i.e Annavaram.
